Tool
A free video uniquifier for your own reels, and what it can promise
The uniquifier tools sell mirror, speed, crop and a fresh file hash. Two of those change nothing a matcher sees, and the rest sit in Meta's own training set. Here is the version built for a creator's own reel.
What a uniquifier does
The typical tool takes one video and returns several copies with random small edits: a mirror, a speed change of a few percent, a crop, a colour shift, a border, new metadata, sometimes a fresh MD5. It is built for ad buyers who upload the same creative to many accounts.
What each edit does to a matcher
- New metadata or MD5. Nothing. A perceptual hash reads the pixels and ignores the file's bytes.
- Re-encode. Nothing. Meta's PDQ survives compression and resizing near perfectly.
- Mirror. Breaks a plain hash, and PDQ ships eight flipped and rotated variants of every hash for exactly this case.
- Speed, crop, colour, grain. All in the training set of Meta's Video Similarity Challenge. A speed change alone is named as unoriginal in Instagram's own rules.
- A new line of text, a new opening. The changes Instagram names as original.
The version for your own reel
Reel Remix runs in your browser and never uploads the file. It starts with a new hook line on the picture, wrapped and placed in the upper third the way a reel's line belongs, and adds one more visible change: a new in and out, a slow push-in, a colour mood, film grain, or a mirror where the clip carries no text. Speed and a tighter crop are offered as the second change and never as the only one. Every variant is measured after it renders, and up to three come out at once with different hook lines, so the next three days are three tests.
What it does not promise
Nobody outside Meta knows the threshold, and Meta publishes no method. The tool calls no edit safe. What it gives you is a new file with two visible changes, one of them the kind of change Instagram itself counts as new, and a way to report back what happened so the next person has a number.
Who it is for
A creator with a reel that worked and a trial reel to fill. Somebody else's reel with two changes is still somebody else's reel, and Instagram's aggregator rule takes repeat offenders out of recommendations for a month at a time.
