How many trial reels can you post a day?
Instagram has never published a number. What exists is what creators report, what the app does when you reach the ceiling, and how we run it for our own clients.
What Instagram has said
Nothing on a number. The creators page describes trial reels, who sees them and how insights work, and carries no posting limit. Where a limit exists it is per account, and the app announces it by refusing the post with a notice. Some creators report that going past the ceiling repeatedly paused trial reels on their account for up to thirty days.
What creators report
The figures people post on Threads and TikTok differ: five a day on some accounts, fifteen or twenty on others, one creator capped at twenty five. Two people who run trial reels professionally described their own ceilings on a recorded workshop as nine and fourteen a day, and their advice was to post until the app says no, because everybody's limit is different. All of that is creator reporting, tier two evidence, and none of it is a rule for your account.
What we do for our own clients
Six trial reels a day is the floor for every active client, on accounts that have warmed up to it. One of our own accounts was raised in steps from six towards fifteen over a fortnight, one or two a day at a time, and the number moves up only after the previous day actually posted its full count. A jump from six to fifteen in one day is how you find the ceiling the expensive way.
How to find yours
- Start at the number you post today and add one a day.
- When the app refuses a trial reel, stop for the day. That refusal is the ceiling announcing itself.
- Stay one below it for a week before trying the next step.
- Give every reel its own hook line. Ten trial reels of the same file are what the similarity notice exists for.
The limit that matters more
The daily number only pays off when every reel is a different test. A reel needs several runs before its number means anything, because on our own measured reels about four tenths of what a reel achieves is the hook and six tenths is the day it went out. So the question is rarely how many a day and mostly how many different hooks over four days.
