Why is my trial reel getting no views?

Trial reels go only to people who do not follow you, and insights arrive about a day after posting. Past that day, three causes cover most of the cases we see.

First, the timing

Insights for a trial reel land roughly twenty four hours after it goes out. A reel posted this morning reads zero this afternoon for that reason alone. Read it tomorrow.

Cause one: the account is not eligible yet

Trial reels need a public professional account, and creators report the option appearing somewhere around a thousand followers. An account under that line may see the switch and still get little distribution. The fix is on the account, and no edit to the reel changes it.

Cause two: the reel was flagged as a repeat

Since 2025 creators have reported a notice on a trial reel that resembles one already on the account: "Reach on Reels like this will be suppressed." Look in Account Status and in the notice history. Where that is the cause, the next trial needs to be a different file in ways a viewer would see, with a new hook line first. Instagram's own originality rules name unique text and creative edits as what counts as original, and a speed change alone as what does not.

Cause three: the hook did not earn the first second

This is the common one, and it is the cheapest to test. On our own measured reels, about four tenths of what a reel achieves is the hook and six tenths is the day it went out, so one posting is close to a coin flip. A hook is judged on the median of four runs on four consecutive days. Its best day measures the day.

• Put the line on the picture where a viewer reads it: upper third, white with a thin dark edge, readable on a phone at arm's length.
• Carry a promise the viewer can use or a receipt they can check. A mood earns little.
• Change one thing per test. Three variants of the same footage with three different lines, one a day, tell you which line works.

What is not a cause

The daily limit. Hitting it produces a refusal to post, so a posted reel with no views has another cause. And the time of day matters less than people think, as long as it is the same time every day, because the day effect then cancels out across the runs.
